Alex Bottausci has been a proud and committed resident of Dollard-des-Ormeaux his entire life. Born and raised in the city, he attended local schools and spent his youth playing soccer and hockey at Sunnybrooke and Coolbrooke parks. Today, he and his wife Kim, also a lifelong Dollard-des-Ormeaux resident, are now raising their three children in the vibrant community they both call home.

A Little Background

From a young age, Alex was determined to give back to the city that shaped him. His deep sense of civic duty and strong community values have guided his public service throughout the years.

Elected Mayor of Dollard-des-Ormeaux in 2017, Alex has led numerous transformative initiatives to improve the quality of life for all residents. Under his leadership, the city has completed major infrastructure projects including the redesign and modernization of the Civic Centre and library, the construction of three new splash pads, and the rebuilding of several park chalets.

Through prudent financial stewardship and strategic planning, Dollard-des-Ormeaux now boasts a historic $23 million surplus, one of the largest in the city’s history. Alex and his Council have successfully introduced new revenue streams, implemented cost-saving measures, and maintained minimal tax increases, ensuring long-term fiscal responsibility.

A firm advocate for environmental sustainability, Alex spearheaded green initiatives that resulted in the planting of over 12,000 new trees, and the installation of electric vehicle charging stations at the Civic Centre. All new construction in the city now incorporates sustainable materials and eco-friendly technologies.

A staunch defender of the city’s identity, Alex played a key role in maintaining Dollard-des-Ormeaux’s bilingual status. In addition to his responsibilities as Mayor, he also represents the city on the Montreal Agglomeration Council. He currently serves as Co-President of the Association of Suburban Municipalities (ASM), sits on the Board of Directors of the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), and as a board member of the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal (CMM).

His past roles include serving on the Commission sur les finances et l’administration, the Commission du développement économique et urbain et de l’habitation, the Commission du développement social et de la diversité montréalaise, and the Commission sur la culture, le patrimoine et les sports.

Before becoming Mayor, Alex served three consecutive terms as a City Councillor, contributing to various committees including key files such as Public Works, Finance, Environment, and Recreation, as well as the Demolition and Communications committees, the West Island Transport Committee, and the Montreal Agglomeration Council.

Concurrent with his municipal duties as Councillor, Alex held a full-time position at Concordia University as Program Coordinator at the Institute for Co-operative Education. There, he mentored and supported students to achieve academic and professional success—fulfilling his personal mission to give back to his alma mater.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and an Executive MBA from the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University (2013).
